To paint rocks, begin with a strong under-painting. Purples, blues, and some consumed sienna or browns function admirably. Round the highest points of the London artist stones and keep the bases level. Presently with a filthy white tone, paint over a portion of the under-painting. Let a portion of the dim appear on the other side. You can add simply a little hint of orange or yellows for features too.
